Ultimate Ukay-ukay Guide for Your Next Travel OOTD

Travel can be empowering for many, so it should come as no surprise that travelers want to look their best, especially those who love taking photos for social media. Aside from finding the perfect angle and backdrop, having the right outfit can make your travel photos even more memorable.

Luckily, looking stylish in your travel OOTDs doesn’t need to come with a hefty price tag. The Philippines’ version of thrift shopping, better known as ukay-ukay, is a great way to get clothes of any type—whether classy, vintage pieces, designer and branded goods, or unique and kitschy garb—for exceptionally low prices.

With the knowledge of where to look, plus a good measure of patience, you may just bring home a few hidden gems.

Makati Cinema Square is known for being the best ukay-ukay spot in Makati since it’s conveniently located near the central business district. Aside from the price range being anywhere between Php20 and Php450, what sets this place apart is that it’s entirely air-conditioned!

Don’t be afraid to haggle, especially when you think you can get a better deal. Once you’ve gotten your shopping fix, you can enjoy a delicious Japanese meal in one of many restaurants at Little Tokyo!

PRO TIP: Ukay-ukay shops here in Makati Cinema Square usually display new arrivals during the 15th and 30th of the month so make sure to drop by, you might score a rare fashionable piece!

This place deserves a visit, alongside some of the best bulalo places and cozy cafes in the province!

  1. Baguio Night Market

Address: Harrison Road, Baguio City (near Melvin Jones Grandstand)

A tourist destination in its own right, the Baguio Night Market is the perfect place to check for vintage designer pieces, jackets and coats, and stylish boots. Cebu’s Carbon District, which once was a deposit for train coal, is now home to one of the oldest and largest farmer’s markets in the area. It is also the most popular ukay-ukay destination, with items going for as low as Php10!

Whether you’ve booked your flight without a credit card or have a little bit more to spare, haggling for anything and everything—fresh produce, food, and even souvenirs—in the Carbon Public Market is the key to getting the full local experience.
